CDT was proud to have developed California’s first No Cop Money Candidate Pledge. A number of candidates signed that pledge, including our endorsed 2020 general election (AD25) candidate Alex Lee.

California Democrats introduce legislation -- supported by Governor Newsom -- on police reforms that would ban police tactics used against suspects and protesters. Congress considers how to follow California’s lead on our police use-of-force bill -- led by CDT-endorsed Assemblymember Shirley Weber -- with the Justice in Policing Act of 2020.

CALIFORNIA POLITICS  Special Elections Congressional District 25 (Los Angeles) Christy Smith (D) – 45.1% (+1.1% from May 13) Mike Garcia (R) – 54.9%    Republican Mike Garcia won the CD25 special election, defeating CDT-endorsed Assemblymember Christy Smith, to serve out the rest of the term of former Representative Katie Hill, who had just flipped the seat to Democratic in 2018.
