Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price was just a few months into her first term when her opponents began linking her progressive policies, which seek to reduce incarceration, to a wave of violent crime sweeping through Oakland.
“She is (willfully) fomenting a culture of violence that serves criminals, instead of cracking down on crime to keep violent criminals off our streets,” wrote members of Save Alameda for Everyone. The group is now organizing the possible recall of Price, a former civil rights attorney who has said her policies need time to work and that her critics are seeking to undermine a fair election.
