Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed CDT Ally Secretary of State Alex Padilla to replace VP-elect Kamala Harris as CA Senator. He will be California’s first Latino Senator. This was despite strong advocacy for him to appoint a woman, or a Black woman, to the seat.
