Ludovic Blain(he/him)

Chief Executive Officer

Ludovic Blain believes that building a multiracial democracy is vital to winning and sustaining progressive policies that improve community well being for Black, Latinx, Asian American Pacific Islanders, Indigenous, and other oppressed people. With more than 35 years of grassroots organizing, policy advocacy and donor organizing experience, Ludovic has built the California Donor Table into one of the country’s most established, successful and visible state tables of its kind. Hired in 2009, he was the first person of color, and first immigrant to direct a state donor table in the nation.

Under Ludovic’s leadership, CDT has mobilized close to $75 million across tax statuses to build and sustain community wellbeing through community-of-color-centered power-building and power-wielding infrastructure across California. He has established and sustained regional and state networks that are defeating right-wing movements. Through his leadership a diverse set of Democrats funded by CDT have won in House swing districts, and progressive state constitutional officers and legislators, mayors, District Attorneys, and other local candidates with deep roots in their communities who support a democracy that cares for people of all backgrounds and lived experiences have won across the state. He’s developed mechanisms for collective and inclusive government with regional leaders and elected officials, including building pipelines for a new generation of community leaders.

Before CDT, Ludovic was a leader in building people of color-centered movements around economic justice, environmental justice, media justice, campaign finance and voting rights. Ludovic has also led capacity-building work in Haiti, Canada, Denmark and The Gambia. His work has been featured in the SF Chronicle, NY Times, Politico, Inside Philanthropy, 60 Minutes and other outlets. Ludovic serves on several boards, including the State Leadership Project.
